Oral Cancer Screening
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, early detection is the key to increasing the survival rate for oral cancer and plays a significant role in patients' success in fighting the disease. However, only 15percent of the population reports ever having an oral cancer examination and a mere seven percent reports receiving annual screenings.
Buddy Check
The Doris Shaheen Breast Health Center at Piedmont Hospital and the Women’s Imaging Center at Piedmont Fayette Hospital are proud to partner with WXIA-TV 11Alive in sponsoring Buddy Check 11, a comprehensive campaign dedicated to educating women about breast cancer and encouraging early detection through breast self-examinations. The program brings women together with friends or family members who pledge to call and remind one another once a month— on the 11th—to do a self-examination.
