Managing Dementia Behaviors and Symptoms

Workshop for those caring for loved one with dementia, covering communication techniques, reducing agitation, and the role of medication in managing difficult dementia behaviors. Friday, April 23, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road N.W. $35 fee includes lunch.

Learn how to properly and safely care for an older adult in the home setting. Sessions will be taught by physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, geriatric nurses, diabetes educators, and staff from Sixty Plus Older Adults Services. The fee is $35 which includes lunch. The workshop is sponsored by Sixty Plus Older Adult Services and the Rehabilitation Services.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prvention has stated that the single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each fall. You must be 18 years or older to receive a flu shots at this location. Shots will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.
