Maternity Center Tour

An introduction to the facilities, services and philosophy of the Piedmont Hospital Maternity Center and an opportunity to ask questions. Meets Mondays and Thursdays* from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the second-floor lobby of the 77 Building.

Prenatal Classes

A four-class series recommended in early pregnancy, but that may be attended anytime during pregnancy. Parents having a subsequent pregnancy will benefit from the last two classes. Meets first Monday of every month* from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Richard H. Rich Auditorium.

*No classes on major holidays, fifth Mondays or during December. No maternity tours on major holidays.

Childbirth Classes

Focuses on the final aspect of pregnancy and the sequence of events during labor. Learn about pain relief methods, epidural, relaxation and breathing techniques. Planned and unplanned cesarean births will be discussed. Space is limited. Register early in your pregnancy. $95 fee per couple.

Breastfeeding School

Addresses physiology and functions of the breast, breastfeeding techniques, suggestions for working mothers and considerations for fathers. Attendance should be before delivery. Call for specific dates. Meets Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Richard H. Rich Auditorium.

Oh Baby! Fitness Pregnancy Exercise Classes

Exercise classes specially designed for pregnant women. A chance to get fit, bond with your baby and make new friends. Pregnancy pilates and pregnancy water aerobics are also offered at the Piedmont Hospital Health and Fitness Club. Medical clearance required. Our New Baby Sibling Class

For siblings age three and older. Parents and children attend together. Attendance is encouraged near delivery date. Meets second and fourth Thursdays at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Maternity Center, second-floor lobby of the 77 Building. Advance registration required.

Grandparenting Class

Covers new developments in maternity care, newborn care and feeding, emphasizing family support. Call for specific dates. Meets Mondays from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Building 77, Classroom 7, sixth floor. (An optional maternity tour begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Maternity Center, second-floor lobby of the 77 Building.)

Mother Talk

Support and information for new mothers, including opportunities to share parenting concerns and ideas. Babies up to six months old are welcome. Meets every first Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, 2715 Peachtree Road, N.E.

Parent Talk

Support and information on childcare, discipline, safety precautions, effect on parents’ relationship and more. Children ages six months to two years are welcome. Meets first Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, 2715 Peachtree Road, N.E.
