On August 5, 1905, two physicians considered ahead of their time founded the Piedmont Sanatorium. Now the site of parking for Turner Field, the original hospital/sanatorium was located at the former site of the Atlanta/Fulton County Stadium.
Begun as a 10-bed facility in the Swift family residence, Piedmont Hospital has grown with Atlanta for a century. On August 5, 2005, we celebrated 100 years of caring…a milestone made possible only with the support of the community we serve.
While Piedmont has strived over the years to provide and maintain modern facilities and advanced technologies, Piedmont has always been about the people - the physicians who had the foresight to establish the service and maintain the standards of medical excellence over the years, the employees who give tirelessly of their time and energy and care for our patients with compassion and professionalism, the volunteers who make such a difference, the donors who are so generous in their support of Piedmont, the neighbors who have tolerated our growth over the years, and of course, the patients who trust us with their care.
We believe Piedmont Hospital has made a difference in the lives of those we serve in the smaller community of Buckhead and the larger community of metro Atlanta, and we look forward to a second century of medical excellence.
In order to keep up with the growing healthcare needs of the community we serve, it's time to grow…again. It is our intent and our goal to complete these activities with as little disruption to the neighborhood as possible. However, we know there will be some inconveniences and trying times. We appreciate, in advance, your patience and tolerance as we renovate and expand to fulfill the healthcare needs of the community. Thank you for your support in the past, and we look forward to ongoing dialogue as we progress in the future.
