Laboratory medicine plays a principle role in cancer services at Piedmont. The cell type of the tumor and stage of the disease are confirmed through tissue and body-fluid examination, overseen by experienced technologists. Each patient's recommended course of therapy is largely based on lab results and the expertise of the pathologist.
