Each year approximately 226,000 new cases of lung cancer are diagnosed in the U.S. (Source: American Cancer Society)
Known as the "silent killer", most cases of lung cancer are found in later stages, when treatment is less successful. To help detect lung cancer earlier and increase the chances of long-term survival, Piedmont Healthcare is offering a low cost option for lung cancer screenings – a $99 low-dose computed tomography (CT) scan of the lungs for high-risk individuals. According to the National Lung Screening Trial, the use of low-dose CT reduces lung cancer mortality by 20 percent.
A nurse navigator will serve as your central point of contact for the program, ensuring you meet all criteria, scheduling the appointment for the screening, and assisting you through the entire process and follow up.
